Let's define content marketing, as we see it, before we go further.
Content marketing pulls customers in with relevant content rather than pushing out a message. Good content marketing puts the audience (or customer) first by giving them something of value. It's a long game, which requires a specific set of skills. But when you connect and earn their loyalty you can monetise that audience in many ways.
Content NZ is for any NZ-based marketer who wants to either build their content marketing capability or support the industry as a whole to produce high-calibre content. The founding members of Content NZ are marketing practitioners based in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland, including Creative Agent, TimeZoneOne, Double Denim, Lion's Share, Coo Coo, Nero Motion, Narrative Campaigns and Roar Content.
We believe that content marketing is a powerful tool for connecting businesses with their audience in a meaningful way. Done well, content marketing creates content that aligns to your brand’s higher purpose, delivers value to your audience, and brings benefits through increased loyalty and revenue.
And why now?
As content marketing practitioners we work with a huge range of Kiwi companies. What we're seeing is a growing recognition of how the digital revolution has shifted the power to the audience. Our (potential) customers now choose if, when, and through what channel they want to receive marketing messages from us. This has created a focus on building genuine, authentic engagement and a real willingness to innovate, test the boundaries and try different approaches to drawing an audience in.
We're just starting out at this but have big ambitions. In the short term we will be bringing you the inaugural Content NZ one-day conference, with an inspiring lineup of speakers who are masters at delivering to their audience the kind of content that matters to them.
